Pinocchio reluctantly drank the unpleasant medicine. A couple hours later, he felt completely revived and was ready to continue his journey. At Pinocchio's questioning about his father, she said, "I have thought of everything. Your father has already been told, and before nightfall, he'll be here."

Pinocchio replied, "Then, my dear little Fairy, if it's all right with you, I would like to go and meet him on the way."

To this, the Fairy said, "Go ahead, but be sure not to go astray. Take the forest path and I'm sure that you will meet him."

Pinocchio, eager to reunite with his father, kissed the Fairy on the cheek and left for the forest path.

On his way, he encountered the Cat and the Fox once more. The Cat was suspiciously missing a paw; Pinocchio asked about the injury and the Cat and Fox gave a feeble excuse. However, it was good enough for young Pinocchio. They then attempted to convince Pinocchio to continue on to the Field of Miracles before meeting his father.
